The Barolo wine is known as the “king of all wines, the wine of king”: in fact, it is a noble and generous wine that has given birth to the history of the Italian oenology. This “Mercenasco” Barolo wine has old origins: there are “Rigestum Comunis Albae” that testify the Nebbiolo grapes’ cultivation in the area of “Marcenascum” in La Morra. This is an elegant and aristocratic wine that shows an intense ruby red colour, while it includes a various, floral and spiced bouquet with scents of rose, violet, blueberries, jams, fruit, black pepper and licorice. So, thanks to its peculiarities this wine is perfect if drunk together with red meats, as roasts, game, platters based on the white Alba truffle, seasoned cheeses.
Renato Ratti’s caves are founded in 1965, when Renato decided to transfer the wine’s production, already begun in Alba, to La Morra in a building called the Annunziata. Since 1970 Renato Ratti became a datum point for the Langhe’s wine, and then he wrote lots of books about the composition and the history of his vineyards. After the death of Renato in 1998, the cave passed to his son Pietro, who amplifies his territories and modernize the winery. The building of the New Annunziata began in 2002, and even now it safeguards the wines’ production, always by respecting the tradition.
