The Dolcetto d’Alba produced by this winery of Pira and sons is realized starting from the grapes deriving from the vineyards cultivated in the district of Barolo, in Liste locality. The sight of it is an intense ruby red colour with yellow-crowned reflexes. The smell has persistent floral and fruited perfumes with mature cherry’s, blackberry’s and little red fruit’s smells. Moreover the wine is dry, full and fresh and perfect if drunk with soups, mixed boiled meat and medium seasoned cheeses.
Pira family asserts as wine producer between the end of 800 and the beginning of the 900. Gigi Pira, the creator of this cave, was really attached to the tradition, in fact he was the last wine maker who still effected the wine pressing with the foot, without the help of any innovative technique. The cave is managed by Cristina Boschis from many years: all along she is passionate of wine and vineyards. Cristina has introduced lots of innovations in the winery: the work in the vineyards is manual, but she respects the environment.
