The red wine “Le Grive” by Forteto della Luja winery is made with Barbera, Pinot Noir and other red grapes. It has a ruby red color and an intense and fruity bouquet, with vanilla and spicy notes. The taste is warm and well balanced: we recommend it with typical recipes belonging to Piedmont tradition, such as Agnolotti and mixed boiled meat, cheese and soups.
Forteto della Luja is not only a cave, but also an oasis, in the real sense of the word: here the Scaglione family inhabits from more than six generations. The cave goes back up 1700 and in the past it was only used to produce a little part of wine for personal use, while the other part was sold. Moreover, in the past the family produces fruits and cheeses, too. Nowadays Giancarlo Scaglione is the manager of the cave and, together with his sons, produces some wines in a traditional way, without the use of any kind of weed killer in vineyards. The typical wines of this cave are: Forteto della Luja, Forteto Pian Dei Sogni, Le Grive, Mon Ross and Piasa San Maurizio.
