Barbera d’Alba by Moccagatta is made following a different method, really far from the old wine-making style. It is made with grapes coming fromfour different vineyards located between Neive and Barbaresco districts. It has an intense and bright ruby red colour. The bouquet is fresh and fruity, with scents of red fruits, vanilla and green pepper. The taste is very well balanced between freshness and tannins; a full and armonic flavour gives a persistent after-taste. We recommend it with savoury first courses, lasagna and red meats.
In 1800 Giovanni Minuto was the owner of some estates in the locality of Barbaresco: these territories began to be used by Giovanni’s son, Luigi, in order to produce wine. Lorenzo and Mario divided the management of the winery in 1952: in that moment Mario inherited the Moccagatta’s estate, that gives the name to the cave. Today the winery is carried out by Francesco and Sergio, with the help of their sons Stefano and Martina. They work the 15 hectares of vineyards and they manage to produce about 65 000 bottles every year.
