The Barbera d'Alba Vignota of Conterno e Fantino winery is produced with grapes coming from five different vineyards situated on the hills in the district of Monforte: Ginestra, Pajana, Mosconi, Bussia Sottana and Ornati. This wine shows an intense ruby red colour with some dark red nuances, while the smell of it reveals a fruited bouquet with hints of currants and mature cherry. So this Barbera d’Alba is endowed with a good structure, a fresh and full taste, and it is balanced, persistent, too. For its peculiarities it is perfect in combination with risotto, lasagne, white meats, salami and medium seasoned cheeses.
The Conterno Fantino’s cave springs up in 1982 in the locality of Monforte d’Alba, when Carlo Conterno and Guido Fantino decided to join their abilities and energies in productive sector. All the cave is characterized by modernity and innovation, to which other works are added in 2008: these last concerned the introduction of productive techniques, focused to the eco save and above all the use of power renewable sources. According to the cave’s philosophy it is essential to treat in all the aspects the vineyard, in order to obtain high quality wine. Moreover, the winery covers a surface of 25 hectares and it counts a production of 140 000 bottles every year.
