The Barolo Bricco San Pietro "Vigna d'la Roul" of Rocche dei Manzoni winery is made with grapes cultivated on the Bricco San Pietro in Monforte d'Alba and takes its name from the oak tree in the middle of the vineyard, the "roul" in fact. It is the most virile red wine of the winery and it spends a year of aging in bottle after three years of aging in barriques. Garish ruby red coloured with garnet hues, in the nose there is a well-balanced bouquet of hints of red fruit, vanilla and chocolate. On the palate, it is intense, tannic with a long persistent final. This Barolo wine is perfect to drink paired with roasts and aged cheeses.
The Rocche dei Manzoni winery was born by the will of Valentino Migliorini, already successful restaurateur, to combine his wine knowledge and his talent as an experimenter. For this reason, as early as 1974, he bought the first farmhouse in Monforte d'Alba and began his adventure as a wine producer. Rocche dei Manzoni was one of the first realities of the Langhe to introduce barriques for the maturation of wine and to produce sparkling wines with the classic method. The winery, now managed by his son Rodolfo, reserves great attention to the respect of the ecosystem such as to install in the vineyards artificial nests of birds and bats to eliminate insects.
