Langhe Chardonnay doc Gaia & Rey Gaja 2017

The Chardonnay Gaia&Rey takes the name from the first vineyard of Chardonnay implanted by Angelo Gaja. The wine is dedicated to the first born, Gaia, and to the grand-mother, Clothilde Rey, to whom they attribute the merit of the present philosophy of the cave, oriented towards the high quality wine. The wine has a straw yellow colour and it is endowed with a complexity and a structure due to the typical structure of the Langa’s area. The perfume presents a rich bouquet with fresh hints. Moreover this wine is endowed with a great structure, while the taste is round, persistent and balanced thanks to a right acidity. This Favorita can express all its characteristics if drunk fresh in combination with shellfish, fish first courses, white meats and foie gras.

The cave was built in 1859 in Barbaresco, in the centre of the Langhe, and all along it is recognized as one of the name-symbol in the production of Barbaresco. From the creator Giovanni to Angelo Gaja, this family has earned a great reputation in wine’s sector thanks to its attentive pursuit of quality. In the 60s years Angelo Gaja has decided to innovate the traditions and to import new productive techniques: from the destruction of the production for hectare to a greater control of fermentation temperatures, from the use of the barrique to the replacement of longer tops. The past as experience, the future as purpose: this is the philosophy of this successful winery.
