Barbaresco Rabajà-Bas by Castello di Verduno is an elegant and refined red wine made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes harvested in the namesake hill in Barbaresco. The soil is rich in clay, giving the wine great ageing potential. After a long-lasting oak ageing, in the glass it is bright ruby red with garnet shades. The bouquet is intense, with hints of red berries, petals, balsamic notes of licorice and pine resin. The sip is warm, elegant and soft, with silky tannins. The aftertaste is long and persistent. Barbaresco Rabajà-Bas by Castello di Verduno is recommended with red meat, braised main courses, game and roasts.
The history of the the Castello di Verduno winery has its roots in the 1838, the year in which Re Carlo Alberto of Savoia purchased the Castle. He entrusted the management to General Staglieno, who was a military man and an expert enologist: he obtained a great wine from the best vineyards of Nebbiolo, the Barolo of Castello di Verduno. At the beginning of 1900’s the Burlotto family became the owner of the Castle and pursued the tradition in the wine making of Savoia. Nowadays Gabriella, Elisa and Liliana Burlotto manage the property producing great red wines, obtained by the wonderful combination of tradition, natural approach and great competence.
