This Barbera d’Asti wine has a lively and young character, and its name refers to the habit of Giacomo Bologna’s father, who called “La Monella” the most rebellious cask of his cave. This wine presents a ruby red colour with some yellow-crowned nuances and a little sparkling: the smell is various and fruited in addition to scents of red fruits and dog rose. It is a lively wine, very fresh, too and for these peculiarities it accompanies perfectly typical platters of Piedmont, flavourful first courses, red and white meats, boiled meat and medium seasoned cheeses.
The history of the cave, situated in Rocchetta Tanaro, has a beginning with the nickname of ‘Braida’, that was attributed to Giuseppe Braida, during the elastic football match, a typical sport of Piedmont. Giacomo Bologna has inherited the nickname and the love for wine and soil from his father. Today Raffaella and Giuseppe Bologna manage the cave and they represent the third ‘Braida’ generation: they have transformed the taste of Barbera wine too, by giving to this kind of wine a noble and a quality taste.
