The Barolo Bussia Colonnello by Poderi Aldo Conterno is a red wine endowed with great balance and harmony, and it is produced with selected Nebbiolo grapes deriving from the “Colonnello” vineyard, situated in the Bussia Cru in Monforte d’Alba. To our sight it presents an intense ruby red colour with some orange nuances, while the bouquet is elegant and includes hints of currant, blueberries, cherry, mixed berries, spices, licorice and coffee. Moreover, it owns a warm and intense taste, while it is endowed with great structure and persistence, too. For these peculiarities, the Barolo Bussia Colonnello by Poderi Aldo COnterno accompanies perfectly red meats, game and seasoned cheeses.
In 1954 Aldo Conterno moved to San Francisco to his relatives, because he wanted to found a cave in the Napa Valley. But his wish did not become a reality, because he took part to the American army and so he worked some years in Korea. After this experience, Aldo returned to Italy, where he finally managed to create an own cave in Monforte d’Alba, in the Langhe territory. Aldo Conterno has been identified as the most excellent wine makers of Piedmont, and his wines distinguish themselves for simplicity and quality. After his death, the winery has passed to his three sons that manage the cave and its vineyards.
