The Chardonnay "Cornell Formigar" is produced with great grapes coming from vineyards situated in a wonderful place, in an altitude of 400-550 m s.l.m. The drumlin soils, sandy or pebbly of medium structure, the fresh climate with high temperature ranges between night and day create a refined and elegant wine, endowed with a good structure and great capacity of aging. The wine has a straw yellow colour, with some green reflexes, and it has a fruited taste, above all it is possible to recognize the presence of mango, melon, banana and a little of wood. This wine combined with starters and fish dinner, ravioli of this area, second courses of baked or grilled fish.
The Colterenzio winery was established in 1960 by 28 wine makers, and in the course of the time more and more producers have added to them until the 300 of today: they work in a surface of 300 hectares. The quality of soils, as well as the wine of this locality was recognized around 15 before Christ., when Cornelius lodged there by laying the foundations for the Colterenzio vineyards. The cornerstones of the winery’s philosophy are naturalness, respect for traditions and use of modern technologies, in fact the three kind of wines that the cave produces, follow these ideas: there are classic wine, that people can drink everyday, Praedium wines, that are produced by Oltradige vineyards, and the great Cornell wines which have an enormous international value.
