More info

The “Francia” Barolo of Conterno is a red wine that takes its name from the homonymous vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, purchased by Giacomo Conterno in 1974. This Barolo wine owns a classic style, while its colour is an intense ruby red colour and a little bit transparent. This wine presents an intense, various, floral and fruited perfume, with some scents of mature red fruit, strawberries, rose and violet, together with those of licorice and tobacco. This wine is perfect if drunk in combination with red meats, stuffed and braised meat, game and seasoned or fresh cheeses. It owns great balance and body, persistence and harmony.

Conterno Giacomo

This cave was founded by Giacomo Conterno in 1900 in Monforte d’Alba: Giacomo’s parents were farmers. Later, Giacomo’s son, Giovanni, was responsible about the Barolo’s bottling, while in 1934 Giovanni’s son created the famous Barolo Monfortino and thanks to him the family’s winery purchased the Cascina Francia, in Serralunga d’Alba. The last descending and the present manger of Conterno’s cave is Roberto, who produces wines following traditional procedures, by giving attention to wines’ production modalities. According to Roberto’s philosophy, it is not necessary submit the wine to forcings, but it is essential exalt what the nature has given to man in an excellent way.
