Barolo docg Ginestra Ciabot Mentin Domenico Clerico 2017

The Barolo wine is known as the “king of all wines, the wine of the king”; it is a noble and generous wine that has given birth to the history of Italian oenology. The “Ciabot Mentin Ginestra” Barolo wine is produced with grapes coming from the homonymous vineyard collocated in the Ginestra Cru in Monforte d’Alba; this wine takes the name from the dialectal term, “ciabot”, that means little countryside house, that once was owned by the brothers Fiore and Mentin. This is an elegant and aristocratic wine that presents an intense ruby red colour, while the bouquet is various, floral and spiced with scents of rose and dry roses, blueberries, jams, fruit, black pepper, licorice and tobacco. Thanks to its peculiarities, this Barolo wine is perfect in combination with platters based on red meat, as roasts, game, and platters based on the famous Alba truffle, or seasoned cheeses.

In 1976, Domenico Clerico began to appoach to the world of wine. During those years, Domenico's father cultivated vineyards which he later sold to the Barolo Cooperative Winery. In 1981, Domenico decided to purchase a new plot of land, as at that time it was much more advantageous to vinify grapes:in this way he began to expand the company. Today, Domenico Clerico Winery is one of the most renowned in Piedmont, with approximately 21 hectares of vineyards producing a total of 110,000 bottles annually. The estate-owned vineyards are located in some of the best crus of the Barolo production area, including the Ginestra cru, the source of some of their most prestigious wines. The production philosophy is characterized by a balance between tradition and innovation, always striving to produce wines that best express the character of the territory and the grape variety. Vinification is carried out using modern methods and state-of-the-art equipment, but with a profound respect for traditional techniques.
