The history of the Rivetti family begins in 1890, the year when Giovanni Rivetti left for Argentina, leaving his family behind in Italy. It was his son Giuseppe who laid the foundations for creating a winery: he began producing wine, and in 1977 the Rivetti family settled at La Spinetta, in Castagnole Lanze, where they started producing their first red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian. The estate covers about 100 hectares of vineyards, carefully acquired over time. The vines enjoy excellent exposure — facing south, southeast, and southwest — and have an average age between 35 and 65 years, ideal for producing expressive and well-structured wines. La Spinetta wines are made exclusively from native grape varieties that have historically belonged to the regions where they grow and thrive. Recently, the Rivetti family also purchased vineyards in Grinzane Cavour, where they built an art-inspired winery called Barolo Campè. Their vineyards also extend into Tuscany, covering about 65 hectares between Pisa and Volterra. Today, La Spinetta is one of the most important wineries in Piedmont, a true benchmark for the production of Barolo and Barbaresco. It is now expertly managed by Giorgio, Bruno, and Carlo Rivetti — members of a family that has made hard work the secret of its success.
