Founded in 1670 in the heart of the Roero, Angelo Negro e Figli is one of the oldest winemaking estates in Piedmont. For over three centuries, the Negro family has passionately cultivated the sandy hills of Monteu Roero, passing down a deep respect for the land and for native grape varieties. The estate remains firmly family-run: alongside Giovanni Negro, tireless in his commitment, work his wife Maria Elisa and their four children, Gabriele, Angelo, Emanuela, and Giuseppe, who continue the business with the same dedication and innovative spirit. The estate’s vineyards, approximately 50 hectares owned plus another 15 under management, extend across the municipalities of Monteu Roero, Canale, and Neive, in prestigious crus such as Perdaudin, Prachiosso, Serra Lupini, and Sant’Anna. The territory, characterized by sands rich in marine fossils, imparts the wines with extraordinary aromatic finesse, freshness, and minerality—distinctive traits of the Negro style. The estate works exclusively with Piedmontese native grape varieties, including Arneis, Favorita, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Brachetto, aiming to highlight the most authentic denominations of the Roero and Langhe regions. The production philosophy is based on quality, territorial identity, and sustainability. Since 2016, the winery has participated in the “The Green Experience” project, a certification promoting agricultural practices that respect biodiversity and protect the UNESCO-recognized hilly landscape. Among the most representative wines are: Roero Arneis “Sette Anni” Riserva, symbolizing the longevity and elegance of Arneis; Roero Riserva “Ciabot San Giorgio”, a complex and structured wine, aged in large casks; Roero Riserva “Sudisfà”, expressing balance and depth, resulting from extended aging in both barriques and traditional casks. Each label tells the story of a family that has lived wine as a vocation for centuries: a profound connection to their land, marked by passion, commitment, and authenticity.
