ELVIO COGNO
The Elvio Cogno winery was born from Elvio’s dream to produce the finest wines that his land in Novello could offer. Elvio Cogno began developing the idea of winemaking while working at the Ristorante dell’Angelo in La Morra, intending to carry on his family tradition, which had cultivated vines out of passion. The first step came in 1961 with the production of Barolo, which conquered the international market in less than twenty years. Today, Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore continue the founder Elvio’s work since 1996, with a focus on sustainability and technological innovation. The Elvio Cogno estate spans 15 hectares of vineyards, managed organically and dedicated to the traditional varieties of Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nascetta. The soils, at an altitude of about 380 meters above sea level, are particularly rich in clay, limestone, and mineral elements. The winemaking approach is traditional, based on long spontaneous fermentations in stainless steel tanks, gentle extraction, and prolonged aging.
