ELIO GRASSO
The Elio Grasso estate in Monforte d’Alba is located in an area with a strong wine-growing tradition, in the heart of the production zone of the king of wines, Barolo. The estate covers a total of 42 hectares, of which only 18 are dedicated to vineyards, while the rest consists of woods and meadows, creating an environment rich in natural biodiversity. Thanks to a deep understanding of the territory and a desire to highlight the unique characteristics of each vineyard plot, since the 1980s every vineyard has been managed, harvested, and vinified separately. Elio and his family like to define themselves above all as “farmers,” emphasizing the importance of the “land” as an absolute value. Since 1978, through the diversification of production among Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Chardonnay, the winery has reached an annual production of 90,000 bottles.
