CASCINA CA' ROSSA
Nestled among the hills of the Roero, Cascina Ca’ Rossa is one of the leading wine producers in the Canale municipality and the surrounding area. Purchased in the 1960s by the Ferrio family—who still own and manage it today—Ca’ Rossa lies in the shadow of the tuff tower that marks the renowned Mompissano hill. The estate comprises 13 hectares of vineyards planted with the area’s native grape varieties and produces around 70,000 bottles per year. In the past, the winery made wine primarily for personal use and a few private clients who preferred to buy in bulk. In 1995, a turning point came when the decision was made to begin bottling the wine. It proved to be a winning choice: in just 10 years, Cascina Ca’ Rossa saw significant growth in both volume and reputation, bolstered by the renewed success of Roero Arneis. The reds are equally distinguished, with vineyards located in some of the area’s most celebrated crus, including Valmaggiore, Mompissano, and Le Coste. The winery has followed organic farming practices for several years, maintaining strong environmental stewardship in the vineyard.
