GIANNI GAGLIARDO
The history of the Poderi Gianni Gagliardo winery began back in the 1800s, in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo with the Colla family. Generation after generation, Paolo Gagliardo eventually arrived in La Morra, where he started producing Barolo. Towards the end of the 1980s, new winemaking techniques were introduced in the cellar. In fact, it was only recently that trials had begun in Piedmont with the use of French barriques. Gianni chose to take an alternative path, working instead with the more understated 500- and 700-liter tonneaux. In the meantime, the vineyard holdings expanded. In 1990, the second son, Alberto, joined the company, followed later by Stefano after completing his studies at the Enological School. Finally, in 2010, after graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture, the third and youngest son, Paolo, also joined the estate. In July 2017, the family acquired Tenuta Garetto, a beautiful property located in Agliano Terme, in the heart of the Barbera d’Asti production area. All the wines produced come exclusively from estate-owned vineyards and are distinguished by a constant pursuit of elegance and character.
