GRATTAMACCO
Grattamacco, founded in 1977 by Piermario Meletti Cavallari from Bergamo, is the second oldest estate in the Bolgheri DOC. It is located on the top of the hill overlooking the sea between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, at an altitude of 100 meters, in an area highly suited for the production of great wines. The estate covers 12 hectares and was acquired in 2002 by Claudio Tipa, owner of Collemassari and a friend of Piermario Meletti Cavallari. The winery is about an hour’s drive from Castello ColleMassari, and its vineyards enjoy a particularly favorable climate—dry, with significant temperature variations. Grattamacco wines are elegant and refined, perfectly representative of the territory, and demonstrate year after year their exceptionally high quality. A large wooded area surrounds the vineyards, partially isolating them from neighboring viticulture and helping to establish a unique and unrepeatable microclimate. It is important to note that all cultivation is carried out entirely according to organic farming principles, giving the wines outstanding quality and respect for the environment. Among the various wines produced, the Bolgheri Superiore stands out without a doubt—a truly excellent wine with great aging potential.
