Marchisio winery is firstly a family whose roots were founded in the 1800s, when the forefathers established the estate in Castellinarlo and started growing the vineyards in the heart of Roero. Now the winery is headed by Sergio Marchisio and the estate counts 20 hectares of Nebbiolo, Arneis and Barbera. His sons, Fabio and Ivo, run respectively the cellar and the vineyards. The icon of family is a fundamental aspect of this wine company. In fact, Sergio decided to give to two wines the name of his children. The sparkling wines’ name is “Faiv”, a fantasy name created merging Fabio and Ivo’s names. Roero Riserva wine is dedicated to Francesca, the youngest daughter. The name of Sergio Marchisio is well known and appreciated among Roero producers: he was the first winemaker spreading Arneis in Castellinaldo and also the first one to use it to make spumante. He’s also famous to be the first producer using concrete amphoras for Nebbiolo ageing. The whole estate is run following the organic certified procedures, and many biodynamic processes takes place into the vineyards, such as the burying fermented manure among the vine rows.
