In 1881, Anton Jermann, the founder of this winery, decided to leave Burgenland and his estates in Slovenia to move to Friuli Venezia Giulia. Today, the winery is managed by Anton’s grandson, Silvio, and covers approximately 150 hectares of white grape vineyards. The vineyards are spread across three main areas: on the prestigious Ruttars hill, where the vines benefit from light, fresh soils and a moderately warm microclimate with cool nighttime temperatures; on the stony soils of the Isonzo, in a sunny but well-ventilated area; and in Villanova di Farra, where the historic winery is located, in a very picturesque part of the Collio DOC territory. The most important vineyard is the one that produces Vinnae, a wine created in 1983 from typical Collio soils. Vinnae is fresh yet balanced, respecting all the characteristics of the land from which it comes. The winery’s success is also due to the production of two red wines, Pignacolousse and Mjzzu Blau&Blau. Jermann produces wines of great quality and international prestige, and is one of the key contributors to the excellent reputation that the Friuli wine region enjoys today.
