Baron Philippe de Rothschild

Baron Philippe de Rothschild Winery boasts international prestige and renown in the world of wine. The joint-stock company led by the namesake Baron was officially founded in 1933, but the history of this wine house has much deeper roots. Mayer Amschel Rothschild is considered the founder: a skilled businessman across various sectors, including wine, he acquired the famous Château Brane Mouton in 1853. With the vineyards attached to the estate, he created a new designation of origin for the wine produced there: Mouton-Rothschild. This event marked the beginning of a new winemaking tradition. In the early 1920s, Baron Philippe, at the age of 20, took over the château and all its holdings, significantly expanding the export of Bordeaux AOC wines. Today, the company managing the winery is run by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, and the production of wines of the highest quality and style is recognized and appreciated worldwide.
