CARLO GIACOSA
The Carlo Giacosa winery is located in Barbaresco. Founded in the 1950s and always run by the family, it is now in the hands of the fourth generation, continuing the great work started by Donato Giacosa, the family patriarch. Donato was a well-known figure in the region, as he was one of the 20 founding members of the Cantina Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative. In 1967, the winery decided to stop delivering grapes to the cooperative and began vinifying under its own label. Nowadays, Donato’s granddaughter Maria Grazia manages every aspect of the estate’s production alongside her son Luca. The winery owns 5 hectares of vineyards, all located within the municipality of Barbaresco. The vineyards stretch across some of the most renowned crus of the area, including Asili, Montefico, and Ovello. In the vineyard, environmental sustainability is of utmost importance, just as gentle, non-invasive practices are in the cellar, to preserve the true identity of the wines
