CASCINA PENNA-CURRADO
Cascina Penna-Currado is the new wine project of the Penna–Currado Vietti family, born from the desire to return to their roots with an artisanal and family-driven spirit. After more than 35 harvests at Vietti, Luca Currado and his wife Elena Penna decided to create something of their own—smaller, more authentic, where every step is handled with care and passion. The name itself—“Cascina Penna-Currado”—reflects the will to unite personal history with the land, reinterpreting a legacy with a contemporary outlook. The estate is located on a ridge in Serralunga d’Alba, in a historic building dating back to 1554, carefully restored with respect for the landscape and the site’s heritage. The vineyards are spread across the hills of the Langhe and the Colli Tortonesi (for Timorasso), in carefully selected parcels. With climate change in mind, vineyard sites are chosen for cooler exposures and balanced temperature conditions. The agronomic approach is rooted in sustainability: careful soil management, biodiversity, and vineyard-friendly practices are guiding principles. In the cellar, the focus of winemaking is purity and the true identity of the fruit. For the reds, long fermentations are used, often with whole clusters and moderate macerations. For Timorasso, vinification includes partial skin contact and submerged-cap fermentation to achieve greater complexity and mineral tension, while avoiding oxidation. Production is deliberately limited—the estate positions itself as a boutique winery with small volumes, ensuring quality and precision.
