The history of the Mumm winery dates back to 1827 in Reims, when Peter Arnold Mumm recognized the wine-growing potential of the Champagne region in France. It was George Hermann Mumm who gave the company its name and the decisive push to succeed in international markets. Shortly thereafter came a groundbreaking decision: to adorn their Champagnes with a red ribbon, the famous “Cordon Rouge”, which still stands out among Champagnes worldwide today. Mumm owns 218 hectares of vineyards, 160 of which are in Grand Cru areas, including Avize, Cramant, Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Ay. A particular focus on Pinot Noir has remained a constant throughout production, respecting the traditions of the Montagne de Reims, the beating heart of the Maison. The style of Mumm Champagnes is characterized by great balance and freshness, along with a delicate body that highlights the sweetness of the Pinot Noir grapes, which play a central role in all their cuvées.
