Barolo Francia by Giacomo Conterno is a red wine that takes its name from the homonymous vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, purchased by the winery in 1974. This is a classic Barolo, with an intense ruby red colour and beautiful transparent shades. The bouquet is intense, various, floral and fruity, with scents of ripe red fruits, strawberries, rose and violet, along with licorice and tobacco. The sip is full-bodied and owns great balance, persistence and harmony. We recommend Barolo Francia by Giacomo Conterno with red meat, stuffed and braised main courses, game and aged cheese. It owns great balance and body, persistence and harmony.
Barolo Francia 2018 has been awarded with 96 points by The Wine Independent.
This cave was founded by Giacomo Conterno in 1900 in Monforte d’Alba: Giacomo’s parents were farmers. Later, Giacomo’s son, Giovanni, was responsible about the Barolo’s bottling, while in 1934 Giovanni’s son created the famous Barolo Monfortino and thanks to him the family’s winery purchased the Cascina Francia, in Serralunga d’Alba. The last descending and the present manger of Conterno’s cave is Roberto, who produces wines following traditional procedures, by giving attention to wines’ production modalities. According to Roberto’s philosophy, it is not necessary submit the wine to forcings, but it is essential exalt what the nature has given to man in an excellent way.
