The Barbera d'Alba "Vigna Cerretta" of Giacomo Conterno winery is a red wine of great elegance, harmony and warmth, produced with Barbera grapes grown in one of the most prestigious cru of Serralunga D'Alba.
After a long aging in large casks, it shows a beautiful, intense purple red color with a good brightness . The nose is fruity and complex, with floral notes and hints of black cherry, cherry and spices. The taste is intense and complex characterized by a good balance, refinement and softness.
The Barbera d'Alba "Vigna Cerretta" of Giacomo Conterno is perfect to drink in combination with red meat courses or a savoury cutting board of cured meats and aged cheeses.
This cave was founded by Giacomo Conterno in 1900 in Monforte d’Alba: Giacomo’s parents were farmers. Later, Giacomo’s son, Giovanni, was responsible about the Barolo’s bottling, while in 1934 Giovanni’s son created the famous Barolo Monfortino and thanks to him the family’s winery purchased the Cascina Francia, in Serralunga d’Alba. The last descending and the present manger of Conterno’s cave is Roberto, who produces wines following traditional procedures, by giving attention to wines’ production modalities. According to Roberto’s philosophy, it is not necessary submit the wine to forcings, but it is essential exalt what the nature has given to man in an excellent way.
