More info

The Barbera d'Asti La Bogliona of Scarpa winery is a full-bodied red wine made with Barbera grapes grown on the property "i Bricchi", located on the border between Castel Rocchero and Acqui Terme. Thanks to the long aging of at least 30 months in oak barrels and 2 years in bottle, the Barbera d'Asti La Bogliona has an excellent aging potential. It is a wine with a beautiful intense ruby color, with purple reflections; in the nose it develops a deep and intense bouquet, mineral, with evident hints of red fruit and plum. The taste is vigorous, well structured and characterized by a long and persistent finish. The Barbera d'Asti La Bogliona is excellent to drink with roasted veal, medium aged cheese or veal tongue carpaccio with green sauce.

Manufacturer

The winery Antica Casa Vinicola Scarpa, or simply Scarpa, is a historic winery of Asti, founded at the end of the nineteenth century in Nizza Monferrato. The turning point came in the first years after the second World War, when the young owner Mario Pesce began to take care of the company directly. The company Scarpa soon became a point of reference for many red wines of Piedmont, especially for Barbera. The vineyards of the winery Scarpa are located on slopes between 330 and 440 meters above sea level, in a particularly sunny position:  they can enjoy very cool temperatures at night, such as to preserve the natural acidity of the grape. Recently the company has bought some land in the Langhe area, on the hills of Verduno, La Morra and Neive, thus expanding its production with Barolo and Barbaresco wines. One of the basic principles of the company is to give maximum care and attention throughout the wine production process, starting from the work in the vineyard to the final stages in the cellar.
