More info

The Barbaresco Riserva Don Fiorino is produced with a selection of the best Nebbiolo grapes from the finest vineyards, as in the past. This Barbaresco wine is dedicated to Don Fiorino, the parish priest who in 1958 inspired and guided the 19 farmers who founded Produttori del Barbaresco. After 30 months of aging in 25 hl French oak barrels, it shows a beautiful garnet red colour. The nose releases ample and complex aromas, with notes of red fruit, violet, wet earth and spices. Medium-bodied and with balanced tannins, complex and sapid, it is a wine with a long and persistent finish. It can be enjoyed right now, but with a longevity of 25-30 years. The Barbaresco Riserva Don Fiorino by Produttori del Barbaresco is perfect to drink in combination with courses based on red meats, game and aged cheeses.

Manufacturer

The birth of the company dates back to 1894 thanks to Domizio Cavazza, which was the headmaster of the Enological School of Alba and the owner of the Castle of Barbaresco and the adjoining farm. Domizio Cavazza founded the Cantine Sociali of Barbaresco for "the production of luxury wines and meals", bringing together 9 families of winemakers and starting to vinify Nebbiolo grapes in the cellars of the Castle. He began to call the wine produced with the name of the district: this is how tradition wants that Barbaresco wine was born. Another important date is 1958, the year in which Don Fiorino Marengo, parish priest of Barbaresco, gathered 19 winegrowers and founded the "Produttori di Barbaresco". The Produttori del Barbaresco currently is one of the most prestigious winery of Langhe region  and is a cooperative that brings together more than 50 winegrowers, counting more than 110 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Nebbiolo vine.
