The Barolo “Riva del Bric” of the Paolo Conterno winery is produced with Nebbiolo grapes grown in Monforte d’Alba in the heart of the Langhe hills. After a period of aging in large oak barrels, this Barolo develops an aristocratic intense garnet red color, a floral and fruity bouquet, with notes of ripe plum, berries and spices. Strong and elegant in the mouth, it is excellent for dinner with friends and for meat dishes such as sirloin steak, roast meat or game or with hard and seasoned cheeses.
The history of the Paolo Conterno winery begins in the year 1886, when Paolo Conterno, a hard worker with the gift of great insight, used the Ginestra hill in Monforte, subdividing it by type, exposure and soil and began to grown Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. He began making superior quality wines, vinified personally in his own cellar, in wooden barrels. Today, four generations later, the Conterno family continues to manage the company founded by Paolo Conterno with the same passion for wine-growing, using the most modern technologies always considering the tradition, in full respect of the territory and the ecosystem, taking care of the work in the vineyard and in the cellar. The annual production is about 80,000 bottles. Ageing takes place today as in the past: using French oak barrels of 35 hectolitres. The result is wines of absolute quality, among which are the 'Ginestra' Barolo and 'Riva del Bric' Barolo.
