Founded by Alois Kracher, the winery is now managed by his son Gerhard, with the help of his wife Yvonne and mother Michaela. Alois Kracher is one of Austria’s most renowned wine producers: his wines, especially the sweet ones, have gained international acclaim, earning him numerous awards. The winery is located in Burgenland, in the southeast of Vienna, an area with a climate ideal for noble rot. The region is characterized by a unique climate that promotes the development of noble rot. Kracher produces two types of wines: Cuvée, medium-concentration sweet wines (Eiswein and Beerenauslese), and Kollektion, highly concentrated sweet wines such as Trockenbeerenauslese. Two different production methods are used: Zwischen den Seen (“between the lakes”), a traditional method with fermentation in steel tanks or large wooden barrels, which gives the wines freshness, fruity aromas, and primary scents; and Nouvelle Vague, a modern method using new barriques and increased air exchange during aging, producing wines that are intense and spicy.
