The Frappato is a black native vine of the Sicily region and its name comes from "fruity". The Frappato gives rise to ruby red wines that are limpid, quite consistent, fresh, light, easy to drink and very versatile in the matching. It is a late ripening vine, which is harvested in September. Traditionally it is cultivated with "alberello" method,  with short pruning and low yields.
