Didier Belondrade began his journey in viticulture in 1994, driven by his lifelong love for Spain and its landscapes. After years of planning and dedication, the new winery was finally established in 2000. Designed by Defos du Rau, this new wine estate was created to celebrate the deep connection between vineyard and vintner, between the fruit of the land and manual labor. Every aspect of viticulture here follows precise principles. Work in the vineyards is done exclusively by hand, using non-invasive methods; during harvest, grape selection is carried out with the utmost care and precision; in the cellar, indigenous yeasts are favored to preserve the wine’s natural and unaltered organoleptic qualities. These are just some of the reasons why Belondrade has become an icon in the winemaking world, not only in Spain but internationally. The estate currently includes 24 vineyard plots, primarily located on clay- and limestone-rich soils. From these harsh yet robust terrains come two of the finest expressions of Verdejo. From this single grape variety, Belondrade crafts its two iconic wines: Apolonia, fresher and more vibrant in tone, and Belondrade y Lurton, rounder and broader thanks to extended aging in oak barrels.
