Bava Winery is a winemaking estate perched on the hills of Monferrato Astigiano, in the village of Cocconato. It was officially founded in 1911, although its roots go back much further — there are records from the 17th century that mention viticulture as a means of livelihood for the Bava family. 1911 is considered the founding year because it marks the construction of the winery itself. Since then, four generations of winemakers have carried on the family legacy. Nowadays, Cantine Bava manages 55 hectares of vineyards, all cultivated with strict adherence to environmentally conscious and sustainable practices. Natural fertilization is preferred, most vineyard work is done by hand, and chemical treatments are avoided entirely. During harvest, the level of care reaches its peak: grapes are carefully hand-selected, and in the cellar, the wine is allowed to fully express its true character. Cantine Bava is a forward-thinking and pioneering estate. As early as 1975, it embraced the use of barriques, and from the beginning it has produced wines with a clear, distinctive style — never artificial or ordinary, but always authentic and true to their terroir.
