Vajra is one of the historic names of the Langhe in Piedmont, a winery established in 1972 that now spans a total of fifty hectares of vineyards. Located in the municipality of Barolo, the winery produces wines that strongly reflect the territory, using all the most typical grape varieties of the area. In 1972, Aldo Vajra became passionate about his grandparents’ vineyard estate in Vergne (between Barolo and La Morra), intending to go beyond the limits set by his ancestors. Work on the winery officially began in 1986, and since 1984, Aldo and his wife Milena have carried forward what the grandparents had only started. Aldo and Milena’s winery is entirely personal, balancing tradition and modernity across two generations. The location of the estate is not only charming and serene but also full of surprises: at Vajra, they produce Langhe Bianco and the intriguing Freisa Kyè, two wines that one might not expect to find in the land of Barolo. In addition to these specialties, Vajra also produces Barbera and Nebbiolo, wines that express the distinctive characteristics of their vineyards.
