The Perricone, also called Pignatello, is a red native vine of Sicily, typical of the area of Trapani and Salerno. Its name seems to derive from the dialectal term pignatidare: the red clays used to produce pignàte, traditional terracotta pots. This vine produces more or less intense ruby red wines that show fruity and vinous aromas with hints of red fruits, plums, cherries and spicy notes.
