Sorìa Perricone Firriato 2017

The Perricone "Sorìa" of Firriato is the result of the love of Firriato for this vine originates from the  western Sicily, whose cultivation had been almost entirely abandoned  in the first half of the twentieth century.This wine is made with grapes grown on the estate of Baglio Soria, at about 300 meters above sea level, which are then vinified in steel. After aging for 9 months in French oak barriques and for 3 months in bottle, the Perricone "Sorìa" of Firriato  shows in the glass a beautiful ruby red color and purple notes. In the nose it develops an intense and fruity bouquet, with notes of blackberry, plum and berries, with delicate vegetal and spicy hints of juniper and black pepper. The taste is fresh and balanced, with elegant tannins and a long persistence. It is perfect to drink in combination with savory tart, pasta with eggplant or medium-aged cheeses.

At the end of the 70s Salvatore di Gaetano, has always been passionate about wine and enology, became attracted to the area of Trapani and gave life to one of the most representative wineries in Sicily. The name "Firriato" comes from the homonymous district where the winery is located. The extraordinary variety of climates and soils favorable to the production of wine of the different vineyards owned, as well as the techniques used, give rise to exceptional wines that are unique expression of the Sicilian territory. Among the top wines there is 'Harmonium”, a Nero d'Avola wine that always gets excellent awards, and other high quality red wines: Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Frappato. Even the white wines produced by Firriato, such as Catarratto and Grillo, are wines of excellent quality.
