More info

The Barbera d'Asti Superiore Mongovone of Elio Perrone is a red wine characterized by an excellent personality and produced with 100% Barbera grapes, cultivated in a vineyard of about 80 years old in the municipality of Isola d'Asti, in the Mongovone area. Few bunch are produced, but of excellent taste, that are picked in October, with the use of small baskets. This Barbera shows a beautiful intense ruby red color with light purple reflections. Its aroma is fruity with a light spicy note, with hints of blueberries, jam and cherries under spirits. In the mouth it has a good structure and aroma, and it confirms the fruity scent perceived in to the nose. Characterized by a sapid, fresh, pleasantly tannic and persistent finish, the Barbera Mongovone of Elio Perrone is perfect to drink in combination with tasty meat courses, such as roasted or braised meat, or aged cheeses.

Manufacturer

Elio Perrone

The Perrone family has been producing Barbera and Moscato d'Asti on the hills of Castiglione Tinella since the end of the 19th century. After 4 generations, today Stefano and his wife Giulia carry on the family tradition with love and dedication to give rise to quality wines. Part of the vineyards are located around the historic site in Castiglione Tinella and are dedicated to the cultivation of Moscato d'Asti; the rest of the vineyards are located in Isola d'Asti, on hilly terrain at 360 meters above sea level, where there are ideal exposure conditions for the cultivation of Barbera. Today the Perrone winery produces Moscato d'Asti linked to the tradition of Monferrato and high-class Barbera d'Asti; these are oenological pearls born from a worldly know-now and from the lively and advanced spirit of Stefano and Giulia.
