The Gi di Elio Perrone is a very aromatic and fragrant white wine, produced with a blend of Chardonnay and Moscato grapes grown in the area of Castiglione Tinella. The term "Gi" refers to the dormouse in the dialect of Piedmont: this name was chosen because it is a wine that gives its best after a little rest in the cellar. It shows a beautiful straw yellow color with golden reflections; the nose is elegant, rich and typically aromatic, with hints of exotic fruit, sage and honey. The palate is fresh, very sapid, soft, rich and characterized by an excellent persistence. The Gi by Elio Perrone is perfect to drink in combination with appetizers or pasta based on fish such as fish tartare.
The Perrone family has been producing Barbera and Moscato d'Asti on the hills of Castiglione Tinella since the end of the 19th century. After 4 generations, today Stefano and his wife Giulia carry on the family tradition with love and dedication to give rise to quality wines. Part of the vineyards are located around the historic site in Castiglione Tinella and are dedicated to the cultivation of Moscato d'Asti; the rest of the vineyards are located in Isola d'Asti, on hilly terrain at 360 meters above sea level, where there are ideal exposure conditions for the cultivation of Barbera. Today the Perrone winery produces Moscato d'Asti linked to the tradition of Monferrato and high-class Barbera d'Asti; these are oenological pearls born from a worldly know-now and from the lively and advanced spirit of Stefano and Giulia.
