More info

“Aeroplan Servaj” (wild aeroplane) is the name of the last Cru situated in Barolo, created by Domenico Clerico as a tribute to his father, Clemente, that used to call his son in this manner, in order to indicate “first a boy, than a man that flies with his imagination on the hills which surround him and eventually he sometimes floors in the real world”. This wine is produced with Nebbiolo grapes deriving from a vineyard collocated in Serralunga d’Alba and it distinguishes from the other kind of Barolo wines produced in this cave both for its characteristics and for its label: 6 different labels that represent the Aeroplan Servaj lay inside a wood packaging, while outside there is the legend of the wine’s name. Elegant Barolo wine with an intense and transparent ruby red colour; the smell of it emanates a various and intense bouquet with floral aroma of violet, rose, blueberries, raspberries, spices. Wine of great balance and persistence that combines perfectly with red meats, seasoned cheeses. It has a good capacity of aging, too.

Domenico Clerico

In 1976, Domenico Clerico began to appoach to the world of wine. During those years, Domenico's father cultivated vineyards which he later sold to the Barolo Cooperative Winery. In 1981, Domenico decided to purchase a new plot of land, as at that time it was much more advantageous to vinify grapes:in this way he began to expand the company. Today, Domenico Clerico Winery is one of the most renowned in Piedmont, with approximately 21 hectares of vineyards producing a total of 110,000 bottles annually. The estate-owned vineyards are located in some of the best crus of the Barolo production area, including the Ginestra cru, the source of some of their most prestigious wines. The production philosophy is characterized by a balance between tradition and innovation, always striving to produce wines that best express the character of the territory and the grape variety. Vinification is carried out using modern methods and state-of-the-art equipment, but with a profound respect for traditional techniques. Wines produced by Domenico Clerico Winery are renowned for their elegance, complexity, and longevity. From Barolo to other varieties such as Dolcetto and Barbera, each wine reflects the passion that characterizes the work of the estate.
