More info

The Chianti Classico Tenuta Sant'Alfonso is one of the historic wines of Rocca delle Macie and is produced with 100% of carefully selected Sangiovese grapes coming exclusively from the Sant'Alfonso estate. After aging in French oak barrels for at least one year, a rich and juicy wine is obtained, with a beautiful, very intense ruby red colour. In the nose, the bouquet is broad and composite, with fruity notes of black cherry and ripe blackberry, in addition to spicy hints of licorice and coffee. Red wine of great complexity and richness, the sip is soft and well balanced, fresh and sapid, with important tannins and long persistence. Chianti Classico Tenuta Sant'Alfonso by Rocca delle Macie is an excellent wine for aging and it is recommended with roasted or braised red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Manufacturer

The origins of Rocche delle Macie date back to 1973 when Italo Zingarelli, a famous Italian film producer, decided to abandon his film career and buy the "Le Macie" estate. It consisted of 93 hectares of land, only two of which were planted with vineyards. Thus, Italo began his small wine production, immediately conquering a large number of admirers. Soon he managed to pass on his enthusiasm and love for the Tuscan land to his sons Sergio, Sandra and Fabio. Today the company owns six estates: Le Macie, Sant'Alfonso, Riserva Fizzano and le Tavolelle in the Chianti region, Campo Maccione and Casamaria in the Morellino di Scansano region. It cinsiste of 500 hectares in total, of which more than 200 are cultivated with vineyards and about 22 are cultivated with olive groves. The main objective of the company is to produce great quality wines, with complete respect for the environment and the ecosystem, trying to make the most of the territory. The wines produced are unique and unmistakable and have a huge success both in Italy and abroad.
