The flagship wine of Ornellaia, born in 1985, is a Tuscan excellence and a masterful expression of the renowned Bolgheri estate. This prestigious red wine is made from carefully selected grapes sourced from the finest vineyards of the estate. The 2022 vintage stands out for its rich and generous profile, with an excellent balance between power and finesse. The blend of Ornellaia 2022 is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Petit Verdot. It is aged in barriques in the Ornellaia cellar under controlled temperature conditions for approximately 18 months: after the first 12 months, blending takes place, after which the wine is returned to barriques for a further 6 months of ageing. This is followed by an additional 12 months of bottle ageing before release to the market. Despite the warm conditions of the 2022 vintage, Ornellaia has retained its hallmark elegance and freshness. In the glass, it shows a deep, intense ruby red colour. On the nose, it releases an intense and complex bouquet with aromas of ripe black fruit, cherry, sweet spices, tobacco, and delicate hints of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, it is ample, structured, and deep, featuring a dense tannic texture and a pleasant freshness. The finish is long, savoury, and persistent. Ornellaia 2022 is a wine with great ageing potential, ideal for long cellaring, and perfect both on its own or paired with beef fillet, roasts, game, and aged cheeses.
