More info

The Barolo Cannubi by Marchesi di Barolo is an elegant and fine wine, produced with Nebbiolo grapes harvested by hand and grown within the historic Cannubi cru in Barolo. The first fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, while the malolactic one takes place inside vitrified cement vats, specially made with cork insulation. This is followed by refinement in oak barrels of different size for at least 18 months. In the glass it has a beautiful ruby red color with garnet reflections. The nose develops a large and intense bouquet, with notes of rose, vanilla, spices and toasted oak. On the palate it is full-bodied and austere, with a full flavor and soft and well-integrated tannins. With a long and spicy finish, the Barolo Cannubi by Marchesi di Barolo is perfect to drink in combination with stuffed pasta with meat sauce, roasted or braised red meats, game and aged cheeses.

Manufacturer

The history of the Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo begins in 1807, when Carlo Tancredi Falletti married the French noblewoman Juliette Colbert di Maulévrier. Juliette immediately sensed the potential of growing the Nebbiolo vine on the gentle hills of the Langhe, thanks to the particular soil and microclimate. She also built magnificent underground cellars and bought large fine oak barrels, some of which, thanks to constant maintenance, are still used today. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo were taken over by Pietro Abbona. After 6 generations they are still managed by the Abbona family. The objective of the Abbona family is to guarantee the typicality of the different vines and the characteristics of each vineyard, combining tradition and innovation for the production of wines of absolute quality.
