The Barolo DOCG Lazzarito 2019 by Vietti comes from the prestigious Lazzarito Cru in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe. Made exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, it is a powerful and elegant expression of one of the most renowned vineyards in the area. The Lazzarito vineyard enjoys a beautiful amphitheatre-like position, with a south-west exposure, at an altitude of approximately 260–390 metres above sea level. Its calcareous-clay soils, together with vines averaging more than 40 years of age, contribute to the wine’s structure, depth and remarkable ageing potential. In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour with garnet reflections. The bouquet is broad, deep and complex, with elegant aromas of cherry and red berries, accompanied by notes of rose, tobacco, herbs, white pepper, spices and mineral nuances. On the palate, it is powerful, structured and persistent, with firm, characteristically austere tannins typical of Serralunga, supported by pleasant freshness. The finish is long and intense, with pronounced mineral and balsamic notes. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for approximately 30 months in wood, mainly in large oak casks with a small percentage of barriques, before continuing its evolution in bottle.Perfect with richly flavoured dishes such as braised and roasted meats, game, grilled red meats and traditional Piedmontese cuisine. Excellent with aged cheeses and dishes featuring Alba white truffle.
