More info

The Barolo doc “Ravera” of Vietti is produced with Nebbiolo grapes that come from the wine yard with the same name, situated in the Novello district. The Ravera cru of Novello is one of the hills which have the best sun exposition for the Barolo wine production. This Barolo has a classic and traditional style, with an intense ruby red color. Its bouquet is floreal and fruity, with chalk and white pepper notes. Elegant and fine wine, it has intense tannins. The Barolo Ravera is soft and persistent on the aftertaste and it is perfect if drunk with game, red meats and aging cheeses.

“The 2017 Barolo Ravera is a powerhouse. My impression is that the 2017 is going to develop into something truly special. It has all the energy that makes this site so distinctive, but with an extra kick of fruit density and a whole range of exotic aromatics that make for a truly drop dead gorgeous wine. Bright red/purplish fruit, rose petal, chalk and white pepper build into a finish laced with searing intensity. This is such an impressive wine”.

The oenological history of Vietti's cave goes back up the end of 800, when Carlo Vietti gave birth to a winery in the territory of Castiglione Falletto, in the province of Cuneo: the first bottle of Vietti's Barolo comes from 1873. After the death of Carlo, his son Mario and then the son-in-law of this last enter the cave: Alfredo Currado, the son-in law of Mario is oenologist since 1952 and he managed the winery with his wife Luciana. Both passionate of art, they have decided to create the Wine’s collection with Author Labels. Since 1983 the cave is passed in the hands of Mario Cordero, the son-in-law of Alfredo, who, after some experiences in Europe, has decided to give the management of the winery to Luca Currado. In 2016 the historic winery was acquired by Krause Holdings, enabling Luca and his wife Elena, always at the head of Vietti brand, to add a number of prized crus to the estate’s holdings, and be able as a result to look to a future with new, stimulating prospects.
