The Barbera d’Alba “Pre-philloxera” of Elvio Cogno is produced with grapes of 100 years old vineyard. The particularity of this vineyard, situated in Berri di La Morra hamlet, is having a natural grapes protection from the Filoxera attachs, thanks to the calcareous sandy territory and to the favorable exposition. This is an excellent Barbera, with an intense and shiny ruby red color with violet reflexes; the aroma is harmonic with spiced note and scents of dog rose, violet, blackberry, strawberry and cherry. The taste has a great structure and equilibrium, good freshness and perfect acidity. The Pre-philloxera Barbera has elegant tannins and it is perfect if drunk with agnolotti, piedmontese boiled meat, game and savory and aging cheeses. . It is suitable for aging, pleasant also if tasted young.
