Description

This is a powerful and vigorous Barolo wine that takes the name from an homonymous Vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba: Angelo Gaja has decided to call it “Sperss”, by using a dialectal term, which means longing of precious things lost with the time. This wine presents an intense ruby red colour, a little bit transparent; it includes a various and charming bouquet with fruited aroma of blackberry, blueberry, cherry’s jam, black pepper, truffle, leather, licorice. This wine has great softness and important tannins; thanks to its peculiarities, this wine is excellent in combination with roasted red meats, game, seasoned cheeses and platters based on the famous Alba white Truffle. Eventually, it has a good capacity of aging.

The cave was built in 1859 in Barbaresco, in the centre of the Langhe, and all along it is recognized as one of the name-symbol in the production of Barbaresco.
