More info

The Timorasso Montino is the flagship wine of the Colombera winery. It is made with selected Timorasso grapes from the Montino vineyard, that is located 250 meters above sea level and characterized by a temperate climate. Vinified and aged in steel tanks, the Montino by La Colombera is a rich and complex white wine, characterized by a beautiful bright golden yellow colour. This wine best expresses itself if left in the cellar for a few years and it has a good evolutionary potential. After a while in the bottle, in the nose it develops mineral and flint notes, combined with nuances of hydrocarbons. In the mouth, it is very balanced, warm and soft, with a remarkable structure and a long and persistent finish. Endowed with a good freshness, it is an important white wine that reaches its best expression after a period of bottle ageing lasting a few years. The Timorasso Montino by La Colombera is perfect to drink in combination with appetizers based on asparagus and peppers, second courses based on white meats or with medium-aged goat cheeses.

Manufacturer

The origins of La Colombera date back to 1938 when the great-grandparents of Elisa Semino, who now is the owner of the company, rented a farmstead in the hills of Vho and began cultivating wheat, chickpeas and lucerne. Only after the war first vineyards were planted for personal use and only since 1970s they begun to carry out the vinification of grapes and bottle their own wine. The arrival in the company of the young Elisa at the end of the 1990s gave the decisive turning point and allowed La Colombera to become one of the best known companies for Timorasso wine and a point of reference in the Colli Tortonesi. Today, La Colombera has 24 hectares of vineyards cultivated with native vines, managed with respect for the ecosystem, using only verdigris and sulfur and applying a policy of maximum sustainability and soil protection. Even in the cellar, wine-making techniques are meticulous and precise, with the goal of enhancing the best qualities of the earth and its grapes. The La Colombera continues to be a small family business, thanks also to the contribution of Lorenzo, Elisa's brother, who manages the agricultural and mechanical sectors.
