More info

Barolo Castiglione by Vietti is the most classic expression of the Winery. It is made with Nebbiolo grapes harvested in little but well-known plots located in many corners within Barolo area and the vines are among 10 and 45 years old. Barolo Castiglione is an elegant wine: in the glass it is bright ruby red with charming shades. The bouquet is explosive, rich and fruity, with hints of berries, plum and cherry. In the end more complex notes of licorice, rose petals and tobacco come to the nose. The sip is juicy, enveloping, with delicate and texturized tannins. Barolo Castiglione by Vietti is recommended with game, grilled or braised red meat, matured cheese.

The oenological history of Vietti's cave goes back up the end of 800, when Carlo Vietti gave birth to a winery in the territory of Castiglione Falletto, in the province of Cuneo: the first bottle of Vietti's Barolo comes from 1873. After the death of Carlo, his son Mario and then the son-in-law of this last enter the cave: Alfredo Currado, the son-in law of Mario is oenologist since 1952 and he managed the winery with his wife Luciana. Both passionate of art, they have decided to create the Wine’s collection with Author Labels. Since 1983 the cave is passed in the hands of Mario Cordero, the son-in-law of Alfredo, who, after some experiences in Europe, has decided to give the management of the winery to Luca Currado. In 2016 the historic winery was acquired by Krause Holdings, enabling Luca and his wife Elena, always at the head of Vietti brand, to add a number of prized crus to the estate’s holdings, and be able as a result to look to a future with new, stimulating prospects.
